Bespoke Aerobic Digesters For Food Waste

Bespoke Aerobic Digesters from Allied Protek

With pressure building to meet the government’s net zero targets, engineers know we need to ensure that sustainability is a key strategic feature of our businesses and projects. At Allied Protek, we focus on reducing environmental impact in everything we do and involving in projects that promote and prioritise sustainable practices is integral to this. Therefore, it makes us extremely proud to have been working alongside Aerobic Technologies Ltd, undertaking the engineering work on ATL Aerobic Digesters over the past few years.

How does it work?

Digester provides an optimum solution to the ever-increasing problem of processing organic waste. Capable of processing up to 500 kilos of food waste in a single 24 hour period, digester breaks down food waste into grey water, which is then disposed of into the drainage system with effortless simplicity. It saves money and time by identifying areas of high food wastage and help businesses keep track of what they’re throwing away in real-time and on any device.

Local hospital invests in environmentally friendly digester

One of the testimonial customers for this new technology is the Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust. Two digesters have been installed at Grimsby and Scunthorpe hospitals to cut costs and improve food waste management systems.

Sally Yates, Logistics & Waste Manager for NLAG NHS Foundation Trust, said: “(…) These machines dispose of all our food waste and record the food waste being processed in real time. The analytics report statistics from every ward and catering station in both hospitals. This helps our objective to reduce food waste in our hospitals. We have also reduced our carbon footprint as we no longer have food waste collected for transport to disposal facilities. Our staff really like this technology and it has proved very successful for the Trust.”

In the below video our Capital Projects Director, Paul Wilson, talks about the key features of the ATL Aerobic Digester.
