Grimsby Is Great, and So Is The Talent!
Proud, excited and thrilled are the words you could use for how we feel at Allied Protek upon receiving the news that our two apprentices are through to the top 5 National Squad of the Semta WorldSkills UK Construction MetalWorks competition!
Brad and Macaulay attended a 3-day event from 19th to 21st November 2015 at the NEC, Birmingham to compete among the top metalwork apprentices in the country. Over 3 days our apprentices had to show their specialist skill sets and knowledge when cutting, constructing and welding a model crane jib in front of over 75,000 people. Their hard work paid off when Bradley received the Silver medal coming in 2nd place and Macaulay 4th with a Highly Commended award taking them through to the top 5 UK National Squad with a chance of being the selected 2 for the AbuDhabi2017 competition.
Brad and Macaulay will now undergo 18 months of training to prepare for the 2017 international competition in Dubai. The 2017 competition will be the 45th competition held in Abu Dhabi hosting the international WorldSkills competition. At the end of the 18 months of intense training, the UK judges will select the two top performers for the AbuDhabi2017 WorldSkills competition.
We look forward to watching Brad and Macaulay’s progression and hope you join us in wishing them the best of luck over the coming months, fingers are crossed for 2016.
Well done guys, let’s prove Grimsby is great!
