Meet the Team at Allied Protek – Wayne Allenby
Every workshop manager will agree that experienced workers are their most valuable asset. The right crew working together can solve problems seamlessly and one thing we have found at Allied Protek is that experience pays.
In this “Meet the Team” blog we are featuring Wayne Allenby, one of our welder/fabricators, who has been a welder all his working life. With his wealth of experience, Wayne has been a crucial part of our team, perfecting the art of working fast while under pressure to produce quality welds that always meet our client’s high standards. And when Wayne’s not busy multi-tasking, he can often be found in another world… fishing!
Could you tell us a little bit about yourself and what you do?
I am 56 years old and have been a welder all my working life. I started my career at the age of 16 and have never looked back. To get a whole range of skills, I became an apprentice studying on day release at a local college. My main speciality is welding but I am also involved in fabricating new structures.
What’s your best memory of working at Allied Protek?
My best memory is when we put up a huge marquee in the workshop for the Christmas Party. It looked fantastic and we all had a brilliant time that night. I am lucky to work among such amazing colleagues.
What’s the most challenging part of your role?
The most challenging part of my job is time management and deadlines. Attention to detail and good organisational skills are the key qualities in a fabricator to make sure all orders leave on time.
What are some of your favourite hobbies outside of work?
I love freshwater fishing when I get a chance! I also enjoy watching football and having quality time with my family, or simply chilling and relaxing after a long day at work.
